On September 18, 1981, the 20,000-car parking lot at Canada’s West Edmonton Mall makes the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest parking lot in the world. The mall has held other records, too: At one time or another it’s been the World’s Largest Shopping Mall (5.2 million square feet, or about 48 city blocks), the World’s Largest Indoor Amusement Park and the World’s Largest Indoor Water Park (which includes the World’s Largest Indoor Lake and the World’s Largest Indoor Wave Pool).
The West Edmonton Mall has more than 800 stores, 100 restaurants, and 19 movie theaters. It also has a full-size ice-skating rink, where the Edmonton Oilers occasionally practice; two hotels, one of which boasts elaborately themed rooms (the Hollywood Room, the Polynesian Room, the Igloo Room, the Canadian Rail Room, the African Room, and the Arabian Room, for example); a chapel; and a sizeable handful of nightclubs. The mall is arranged in a series of wings, also themed: There is an opulent 19th-century European boulevard, a faux Bourbon Street, and a Chinatown wing arranged around a koi pond. A replica of Christopher Columbus’ famous Santa Maria shares a lagoon with real submarines and exotic fish. When the mall opened in 1981, its developer offered this dedication: “What we have done means you don’t have to go to New York or Paris or Disneyland or Hawaii,” he said. “We have it all here for you in one place, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada!”
Though the mall has held the world’s largest parking-lot record for years, some people argue that it shouldn’t: Because the lot is half indoors and half outdoors, they say, it’s actually not one parking structure but two. By that calculation, you can find the world’s largest parking lot at Seattle’s Sea-Tac airport, which has 13,000 parking spaces under one roof. At any rate, huge lots seem to be everywhere: Universal Studios has two 10,000-car garages, the Denver airport has two 7,000-car lots, and the Baltimore airport has two garages that hold almost 14,000 cars in all.
Kings Island is a 364-acre (147 ha) amusement park located 24 miles (39 km) northeast of Cincinnati in Mason, Ohio. Owned and operated by Cedar Fair, the park first opened in 1972 by the Taft Broadcasting Company. It was part of a larger effort to move and expand Coney Island, a popular resort destination along the banks of the Ohio River that was prone to frequent flooding. After more than $300 million in capital investments, the park features over 100 attractions including fourteen roller coasters and a 33-acre (13 ha) water park.
Early in its history, Kings Island appeared in popular sitcoms and received widespread recognition for its record-breaking attractions and events. One of the park's most well-known attractions, The Racer, is often credited with reviving worldwide interest in roller coasters during the 1970s. Others, such as The Beast and Banshee, have set several world records, some of which remain standing. The largest investment in park history is Orion, a giga coaster opened in July 2020. The park has also suffered through times of negative publicity, particularly surrounding the early demise of roller coasters The Bat and Son of Beast.
Kings Island is divided into several themed sections and operates seasonally from early spring through the fall, partially reopening for Winterfest during the holiday season. In 2017, Kings Island was the second-most visited seasonal amusement park in the United States behind Cedar Point, with an estimated 3.47 million visitors. It was third overall for seasonal attendance in North America, which was led by Canada's Wonderland. In addition, Kings Island has won Golden Ticket Awards from Amusement Today for having the "Best Kids' Area" in the world for eighteen consecutive years (2001–2018) as well as “Best New Ride” in 2017 for Mystic Timbers.

Parking Lot Security Cameras and Hit-and-Runs
Now the the holiday season is over, ‘tis the season for hazardous driving conditions in many northern States. This time of the year is notorious for bringing in school delays and car accidents. While school delays have a positive effect on kids, most of us would like to avoid liability from any car accidents.
A record year for hit and runs
2018 was a record year for hit-and-runs, according to a study by AAA. The report continued to explain that over the past 10 years, nearly 20 percent of all pedestrian deaths were caused by hit-and-run cashes, compared to just 1 percent of all driver fatalities in the same time period. While we can’t give much advice to keep you safe from hit-and-run related injuries, there is some information that is important to be aware of. If your car is involved in a hit-and-run and you cannot find the party who damaged your vehicle, look around for security cameras. Often businesses will have security cameras watching their parking lots for just that reason.
Parking Lot Cameras
Parking lot security cameras are a common feature of many US businesses and organizations for several reasons. Business surveillance systems often have parking lot security cameras to deter crime, such as theft, vandalism, or even assault, from happening on the property, and if any of these crimes do happen the business will have evidence to hand over to the police.
There’s another benefit to so many properties have security cameras watching their parking lots. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, parking lots are where about 20% of vehicle accidents occur. So, if you notice your car has a scratch on it and you think you were hit and run’d while you were away from your parked vehicle, there’s a chance the person who hit your car was caught on camera.
What to do
Remember, if you do get hit in a parking lot, find the building owner and ask if they have security camera footage you can check to help you identify the vehicle, You might also want to get the police involved depending on how bad the damage your vehicle received is. Camera footage can greatly help the police and you find the other vehicle involved in the incident.

Using a Video Recorder (Including Cell Phones) With Audio Capacity
You have a right to capture images in public places, but you don't always have a right to record what people say. Pennsylvania's Wiretap Law makes it illegal to record private conversations - which can include conversations in public places - without the consent of all parties to the conversation. Conversations with police in the course of their duties are not private conversations, but many other things you may record on a public street are.
- You have the right to videotape and audiotape police officers performing official duties in public. It is not a violation of the Pennsylvania Wiretap Law to do so. That means you can record an officer during a traffic stop, during an interrogation, or while he or she is making an arrest.
- You can record people protesting or giving speeches in public.
- The Pennsylvania Wiretap Law does make it illegal to record any electronically transmitted conversation. Never record a telephone conversation without the permission of all parties to the conversation.
COVID-19 Vaccination Tracker
As provinces across Canada begin their COVID-19 vaccination programs, we're tracking doses administered in every region of Canada. new doses have been reported administered today.
In total, doses of COVID-19 vaccines (including Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca) have been delivered to the provinces for administration. As of today, of doses delivered to the provinces have been administered.
The Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines require two doses, a number of weeks apart, for full efficacy. Consequently, we report both the total number of doses administered, and the total number of Canadians who have been fully vaccinated. As of today, more than Canadians have received at least one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. Canadians are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, having received both required doses.
Our data is aggregated by volunteers exclusively from official government sources, updated throughout the day in near real-time. All of our data is freely available for use via our API or in CSV format. Find more information on the sources we use here.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information
Residents who don't have transportation to get a vaccine can contact the Florida Division of Emergency Management to be placed on a list to receive a vaccination at home.
Email [email protected] to receive a survey to help determine qualification.
On-Site Targeted Vaccination Events
As Hillsborough County transitions COVID-19 operations to the private and community-supported sectors, emergency officials will continue working with the Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County to support vaccinations for vulnerable populations in underserved areas. Businesses, community organizations, and faith-based organizations interested in an on-site targeted vaccine event can fill out this form to be placed on a list to be contacted. For questions, call (888) 513-6321 or email [email protected].
Additional Vaccine Locations
Florida continues to prioritize the state's most vulnerable populations for vaccinations, as determined by the Governor of Florida. Those eligible to receive the vaccine include:
- Individuals age 18 and older
- Individuals ages between 12 and 17* with parental or legal guardian consent and accompanied by parent or legal guardian at the time the vaccine is administered
*Minors age 12 and older and the Pfizer Vaccine
Per the CDC, people are considered fully vaccinated:
- 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, like the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
- 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, like Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine
If it has been less than 2 weeks since your shot, or if you still need to get your second dose, you are NOT fully protected. Keep taking all prevention steps until you are fully vaccinated.
For now, here's what's changed and what hasn't changed according to the CDC. Want to learn more about these recommendations? Read the CDC's expanded Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People, corresponding Science Brief, and recommendations for healthcare providers.
According to the CDC, being vaccinated provides numerous benefits. It is also important to know that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ensures vaccine quality, safety, and effectiveness. Before going online to search for vaccine information, make sure that you have identified credible sources that regularly update their information. The CDC offers guidance on how to find credible information. In addition, the Immunization Action Coalition offers valuable advice on evaluating online health information. The University of California San Francisco's Evaluating Health Information page lists red flags every consumer needs to know.
If you lose your vaccination card or any record of it, return to the location that provided the vaccination if possible. If you do not have success at the location or if the location is no longer in operation, and you received the vaccine in Hillsborough County, contact the Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County or call (813) 307-8000 and select Select Option 1 for COVID and then Option 5 for the COVID Vaccination Card. Please be aware that it may take a while to research and process the request.
Your primary care physician's office also should be able to look up the record of your immunization.
